Munhonga was sentenced 12 months in prison; three months were suspended for five years and one month suspended on restitution of US$580 leaving him with eight months effective.

The state led by Tafara Chirambira proved that on December 11 around 8pm Maureen chidora,54, parked her car in her residence yard and went to bed.

In the early hours of December 12 around 01:40, Chidora heard stamping sounds and she assumed someone jumped over her fence into her yard.

Chidora peeped through the window and saw Munhonga taking car parts from her car.

After sensing someone had been watching Munhonga tried to pack the parts he took and Chidora alerted her neighbours that a thief had visited her house.

Munhonga promptly fled and Chidora’s neighbours went and chased after him till they caught him but his accomplice managed to escape with some of the stolen goods worth US$580.

Chidora lodged a complaint with the police leading to Munhonga’s arrest.
