Harare, February 14, 2014 – President Robert Mugabe and the First family have targeted members of the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (ZAOGA) church and Word of Life Ministries to act as ushers at the wedding of their daughter Bona next month.
Informed sources told Radio VOP this week that agents from the Office of the President held a recruitment session on Wednesday at the Harare International Conference Centre where they interviewed and screened potential ushers.
The potential ushers were drawn from ZAOGA church and the Word of Life Ministries and were grilled on their backgrounds, their level of patriotism and the identities of the political parties they support.
Training for the ushers commences Saturday at the HICC.
The ushers will be tasked with assisting and directing guests at Bona’s wedding, distributing programmes and generally be available for any assistance that may be needed.
Bona, who holds a first degree in Accounting and recently graduated with a Masters in Banking and Finance completed traditional marriage formalities with her boyfriend, Simba Chikore, at the Mugabe’s Zvimba rural home last August.
Chikore’s parents who were paraded by First Lady Grace Mugabe last year at a Christian conference held in Harare are members of the ZAOGA church.
Preparations for the wedding are at an advanced stage with reports that Mugabe’s Borrowdale Brooke mansion is currently undergoing renovations and construction work ahead of the wedding ceremony.
