ZIMBABWE – The Lovemore Madhuku-led National Constitutional Party NCA says President Robert Mugabe’s rightful place is the old people’s home before he dies as opposed to the state house which he continues to forcibly occupy.
The party said this Monday, reacting to utterances by the President’s wife Grace at the weekend that the veteran leader, now 91 years old, would be given a special wheel chair so he could rule until he reaches 100.
Grace said her husband was still needed by the people as evidenced by him being nominated to represent Zanu PF in the 2018 elections.
She added Mugabe, who has ruled the country since independence in 1980, is being rewarded for his respect to the people.
In an interview with NewZimbabwe.com Madock Chivasa the NCA’s national spokesperson said Grace should be reminded that her husband’s future, like everyone else, is in the grave yard.
Grace must know that the right place for Mugabe now is an old people home not state house, said Chivasa.
Chivasa said the First Lady was refusing to acknowledge that Mugabe’s time was up, adding that she should thank God for the aging leader’s longevity.
So even if she (Grace) continues dreaming, she will not be able to defeat nature, he said.
The NCA spokesperson rejected Grace’s insistence that Mugabe’s continued rule was a result of a “genuine mandate given to him by Zimbabweans.
Chivasa said no sane Zimbabwean would vote for the aging President.
It shows that the First Lady needs to learn a lot about democratic processes.
Zimbabweans deserve a young, principled and energetic leader who can come up with solid economic policies to grow the country economy, he said.
