ZIMBABWE – The People First (PF) project led by former Zanu PF members either fired or suspended from the ruling party has formerly registered with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC).

The new party is being led by former vice president Joice Mujuru.

In a statement released Saturday by its spokesperson Rugabe Gumbo, PF said was now an officially registered political party.

We are pleased to announce the formal registration of Zimbabwe People First (People First) as a political party through the lodging of the constitution of the Party with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) on the 12th of February 2016, said Rugare Gumbo in a statement.

He added: People First is a home-grown, inclusive party that will promote the wishes and aspirations of Zimbabweans first.

We are humbled by the huge amount of encouragement, enthusiasm and support shown by people from all walks of life of this our great nation towards this noble cause that we are embarking on.

Mujuru, who was fired from government and Zanu PF for allegedly plotting a coup against President Robert Mugabe, will be PF’s interim leader.

The party’s motto is Tiri Vavaki veZimbabwe (We are Builders, Builders of Zimbabwe).

Since the beginning of the year, Mujuru has been holding meetings around the country’s ten provinces, promoting the PF project.

The new party has since released its draft constitution and economic blueprint which vows to Unlock Investment and Leverage for Development.
