HARARE – MDC-T acting Secretary-General says he is confident of winning the party’s presidency in the upcoming extraordinary congress to be held this Sunday following another postponement last week over a disputed voter’s roll.
Acting President, Thokozani Khupe last week called off the congress on allegations that Mwonzora was trying sneak in a manipulated voter’s roll with his backers who were not part of the 2014 structures.
However, the plot failed as Khupe had another copy of the 2014 structures.
The Supreme Court ordered that the party should go back to its 2014 structures and elect the new president to succeed the late Morgan Tsvangiarai.
The convening of the congress, however, still hangs in the balance after Abddnico Bhebhe filed an urgent chamber application seeking to stop the congress until his suspension has been resolved.
Bhebe’s expulsion is widely viewed as a plot to clear the path for Khupe.
