HARARE – Opposition MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora has urged the public to embrace the government’s vaccination programme and to continue adhering to World Health Organisation protocols.
In a statement released through a video, Mwonzora said the public should not be complacent amidst the relaxed lockdown measures.
“The people of Zimbabwe, the Covid-19 pandemic has devasted the world. It has devasted economies across the world and has changed the way of life of various communities. It has completely changed our education system and has exacerbated poverty and misery.
“Although the Zimbabwean government has relaxed lockdown, this is no cause for complacency for the disease is still with us. We urge Zimbabweans to maintain WHO mandated health guidelines including washing our hands with soap, wearing of masks as well as maintaining social distances,” Mwonzora said.
“The government has procured vaccines from China. We urge our people to be vaccinated. World health authorities are urging people to be vaccinated, Zimbabwe health authorities are urging people to be vaccinated. Health professionals, both in the public sector and the private sector have urged vaccination. Across the world, Presidents, Prime Ministers, Kings, Queens as well as other leaders are being vaccinated,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mwonozra has received his second jab of the Chinese produced Sinopharm vaccine.
