ZIMBABWE – THE Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe says prophets Emmanuel Makandiwa and Uebert Angel’s miracle money wonders are not in violation of any financial laws in the country.
RBZ governor Gideon Gono told Press conference attended by the two prophets that the central bank was charged with enforcing earthly laws and had a limited understanding of the spiritual realm.
Prophets Makandiwa and Angel have of late taken the nation by storm through performing numerous miracles after declaring that a Christian revival was sweeping across the country and bringing with it miracles.
Congregants reportedly receive miracle money in their pockets, instantly lose weight, have hair covering bald heads and their missing teeth replaced, while gold dust and other precious minerals fall during church services.
Some people have been urging the RBZ to investigate the miracle money, arguing that it could be in violation of financial laws.
But Dr Gono said his office was only concerned “about the creation of conditions whereupon there could be misunderstanding on money laundering and financing of terrorism”.
“When they started talking about miracle money, I said asi kwava nomumwe governor here,” he said.
“Then came the issue of gold dust and other minerals, tikati aizve, zvingaite sei? There was a lot of debate.
“It is against that background that we got together to appreciate where we come from. There is no contradiction to what they have been doing and saying and the laws we observe.
