BULAWAYO – Acting Mpilo Hospital Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Professor Solwayo Ngwenya has warned the public to be wary of a potential Covid-19 third wave.
This follows a worrying pattern of rising positive cases since the relaxation of the national lockdown.
“Coronavirus: back to the same pattern again! Bulawayo starts with a high positivity rate of 19.5%. Unfortunately, the third wave with the variants will be unforgiving, this time things will erupt suddenly, and catastrophically. Stay at home if you can, it could save your life,” wrote Ngwenya on his Twitter handle.
At the beginning of the month, the government announced the easing down of the lockdown measures in a bid to save the already struggling economy.
The country has also started rolling out the vaccination programme, with more than 35 000 frontline workers vaccinated to date.
