ZIMBABWE – The Zimbabwean Judiciary system has come under spotlight once again after it emerged that Namatirai Chipere, who is a Public Prosecutor is contesting in Zanu-Pf elections which is in violation of the country’s constitution.
Section 261(3) of the Zimbabwean constitution prohibits officers of the National Prosecuting Authority from being active members of any political party.
The state of the rule of law and constitutionalism in the country has come under intense criticism recently as there has been growing perception that the judiciary system is captured and used to settle political scores.
This comes after many strange decisions have been made by the courts especially those relating to individuals and organisations deemed to be a threat to the continued Zanu-Pf leadership.
