HARARE – Nurses at one of the country’s biggest hospital, Sally Mugabe on Thursday morning downed tools over the lack of adequate personal protective equipment.
This follows the death of Matron Mirriam Pundu who succumbed to Covid-19 and further reports saying 7 staff members and 15 patients have also contracted the virus.
The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights has said the Health and Finance Ministries are violating a court order.
On 14 April 2020, a High Court order was granted in favour of the Zimbabwe Association of Doctors for Human Rights ordering the government to ensure that frontline workers are provided with adequate PPE.
