ZIMBABWE – An Epworth self-proclaimed prophet allegedly raped a woman alleging that he wanted to give her a spiritual healing.
Mutsvene Makaya, 47, of No. 443 Pentagon Epworth was arraigned before Harare magistrate Tendai Mahwe facing charges of rape and indecent assault.
Makaya was not asked to plead to the allegations and he was remanded to November 26.
He was also advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
It is the State‘s case that on November 4 2014 Makaya went to the victim’s place of residence alleging that he was would end his problems by treating her spiritually since he was a prophet.
The court heard that, Makaya reportedly undressed the victim and had sexual intercourse without the complaint’s approval.
It is also said that on April 22 this year Makaya visited the victim and fondled her breasts before he raped her saying that it would take time for her to be completely healed.
Further accusations are that, November 4 this year, Makaya made his usual visit to the victim’s house, he the aggressively removed the victim’s skirt and undergarments before he pushed her on the bed on her back and raped her.
The victim lodged a complaint with the police leading to the arrest of Makaya following his appearance in court.
