HARARE – Urban grooves musician Desmond “Stunner” Chideme (41) yesterday appeared before Harare magistrate Evelyn Mushavakure to answer to charges of domestic violence after he reportedly assaulted his wife, Dione Tafirenyika. He was remanded out of custody to May 11 for trial. Allegations are that on April 10 at around 2am, Stunner was performing at a concept headlined by South African rapper Focalistic at the Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare.
After the performance, his wife allegedly went to the bathroom and Stunner is said to have followed, dragged her out of the toilet and demanded to see her cellphone. After failing to get it, Stunner is alleged to have clapped her and damaged her fingers as he forcibly removed her artificial nails.
The rapper, 41, was remanded to May 11 for trial by Harare magistrate Evelyn Mashavakure over the alleged attack on Dyonne Tafirenyika, 23. Tafirenyika told police she was left bleeding from her nose and finger nails after Stunner beat her and ripped out her artificial nails.
No medical report was tabled in court, however, after she allegedly refused treatment following the incident at the Rainbow Towers hotel at around 2AM last Sunday.
