HARARE – The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has appointed Ms Sukai Tongogara as the Executive Secretary, the anti-graft body has announced.
“The Chairperson of ZACC in accordance with the Constitution and the Public Entities Corporate Governance Act [Chapter 10:19] is pleased to announce the following appointment in the Secretariat.
“Ms Sukai Tongogara is now the Executive Secretary to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission. She is a registered legal practitioner and a holder of a Master of Science Degree in International Law from the University of Zimbabwe,” read the statement from ZACC.
A few years back Tongogara was caught up in a corruption storm at ZACC where she was accused of abuse of office.
She was accused of being part of the secretariat that formed a private company called Private Mortgage Company(PMC) without the resolution or knowledge of the commission and it was also alleged that she and other three individuals diverted $1.7 million from Treasury to buy individual shares in a private company.
However, Tongogara was cleared of all the allegations.
