HARARE – The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority [Zimra] said the current challenges faces by clients in securing their 2021 tax clearance certificates was due to congestion on their E-services platform.
In a public notice, the tax collector said the system was operational but overwhelmed by high user traffic following the expiry of the previously extended submission deadline.
“The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority would like to sincerely apologise for the challenges that our valued clients have been experiencing with our E-services system in applying for the tax clearance certificates for 2021.
“This has been worsened by the congestion due to very high user traffic applying at the same time, following the expiry of the previously extended tax clearance submission deadline. The system is operational and our ICT team is attending to the system congestion challenges to improve the system performance,” read the public notice.

The Authority said corrective actions were being taken to return the system to normalcy including adding capacity to the infrastructure, engaging directly taxpayers who have reported challenges and also working with the vendor (Microsoft) to enhance system capacity so that it can handle multiple requests at the same time.
