ZIMBABWE – Two people were reportedly found in possession of 21,60 kilograms of dagga in their vehicle.

Shingirai Donald Madzonga, 35 and Catharine Dirwayi, 52, appeared before Harare magistrate Tendai Mahwe on charges of dealing in dangerous drugs.

The duo pleaded not guilty before they were remanded to December 7 for trial.

The state led by Samantha Dhlamini has it that on November 17 at around 5pm, the Harare Crime prevention Unit received a tip off that the duo were in possession of dagga.

It is alleged that the police officers made a follow up and at around 10.30pm at Budiriro 4 Shopping Center the officers approached the duo who were in a Nissan vehicle and introduced themselves to the accused people.

The court heard that the police details immediately searched the vehicle and found a sack staffed with dagga.

The two accused people were arrested and taken to Harare Central Police station, it is said.

The Dagga was weighed on a scale and it gave a total amount of 21,60 kilograms.

The Dagga is said to have a street value of US$2 160.
