BULAWAYO – The Bulawayo based cooking oil and soaps manufacturer, United Refineries Limited has announced that it will be temporarily suspending it’s operations due to the water crisis that is deepening with each day.
The company issued a statement saying they will suspend operations until the situation normalises.
“We regret to inform our customers, suppliers and stakeholders that we have limited water supplies to our factory for the last 7 days and the situation has not yet improved. As a result we have had to temporarily suspend our factory operations as we await the situation to normalise,” read part of the statement.
The company also said they were engaging the Council authorities on the issue.
“We continue to engage Bulawayo City Council with regard to returning the situation to normality.”
Bulawayo has been facing acute water shortages as a result of dams drying up and the local authority has recently intensified the water shedding schedule with residents going for more than a week now without accessing the precious liquid.
