HARARE – The United States of America has donated twenty ventilators to Zimbabwe to assist the country in it’s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Zimbabwe has witnessed a surge in Covid-19 cases which has seen the country record 29408 positive cases and 879 deaths as at 20 January 2021.
Yesterday the country received the news of the death of Foreign Affairs Minister SB Moyo who succumbed to the virus.
“Too many Zimbabweans have already passed away due to Covid-19. We express our deepest condolences to all who have lost their loved ones. We are pleased to deliver 20 ventilators, which compliment Zimbabwe’s efforts to combat Covid-19 and demonstrate the United States’ ongoing commitment to supporting the people of Zimbabwe through the crisis and beyond,” said the USA Ambassador to Zimbabwe Brian Nichols.
The recent surge in positive Covid-19 cases has led to the government reintroducing the stricter level four national lockdown.
