Rutendo* from Gokwe South could not hide her joy after receiving her Jadelle for the first time from USAID partner FHI 360’s Mhuri/Imuli Family planning team.
The young mother of three stays in a remote area about 27 km away from the nearest clinic, so she was thrilled when the team arrived in her community to offer services at Ngondoma Primary just 3km away.
“My third child was unplanned as I was not on family planning. Now I am covered for the next 5 years so that I can take good care of my three children.”
Family planning is an essential service for women of childbearing age to avoid unintended pregnancies that may lead to:Mothers falling sick or dying, and/or Babies falling sick or dying.
USAID-supported family planning services have continued to be available at all health facilities and outreach sites during this era of COVID 19. Since 2010, USAID activities have strengthened family planning & reproductive health services for about 900,000 women and men, improving access to a wide range of family planning methods, including long-acting reversible contraceptives & permanent methods.
