ZIMBABWE – Winky D has been rewarded for his great artistry if the popularity of his song Disappear is anything to go by.
The club banger – off his latest singles collection Kickstape – sits on pole position on BBC 1Xtra, the Afro beats chat show hosted by DJ Edu every Sunday from 10pm-1am.
The song leads the pack ahead of other top artistes’ songs like Black Coffee’s We dance again, Wizkid’s Final, AY’s Zigo (remix) and Shatta Wale‘s Hol’ it.
Despite the impact the song has made, it is not yet available on iTunes, an online music shop where the Ninja president could be also maximising through sales.
In an interview, Winky D’s manager and confidante, Jonathan Banda said:
“We have been talking about this issue and we are concluding on it this week so that the song will be on iTunes soon.
“We are one of the few artistes in Zimbabwe that have been getting royalties from iTunes and there is no need for us not to have the song on iTunes.”
He added:
“Winky D has a number of songs on the online shop.
“His intellectual property rights (IPR) agreement is done by a South African company and we are waiting for them to sort out the issue.”
