Women taken to court for possing drugs


ZIMBABWE – Self-confessed female drug peddler was taken to court after she was found in possession of 1.977kgs of dagga and 70 bottles of bronCleer cough syrup at her Chitungwiza house.

Jessy Madziva, of No.65 Mavhu Road Zengeza 3, admitted to possessing the dagga and bronCleer also known as bronco in street lingo, when she appeared before magistrate Tendai Mahwe.

The 40-year-old will know her fate today when the court sentences her.

She was arrested after detectives from CID drugs squad Harare received information on December 27 that she was in possession of the dangerous drugs.

Acting upon the information the detectives went to her place of residence where they searched.

The detectives recovered three plastic bags and 17 sachets containing dagga with a street value US$197.70.

They also recovered 12x100mls, 2x2litres of bronco from her bedroom and another 36x100mls of bronco which was in her fridge.

Nineteen 200mls of DPH cough syrup was also recovered in a 20litre container.

Jessy was arrested for illegally possessing the dagger and cough syrup.

She will today know her fate when the court sentences her.
