HARARE – Former Zanu-Pf Youth League Secretary, Kudzanai Chipanga has had his application to rejoin the party turned for the second time.
This was confirmed during the post politburo press brief by the Zanu-Pf acting spokesperson, Patrick Chinamasa.
Chipanga was fired from Zanu-Pf at the height of the party’s factional battles which resulted in the ascending of President Mnangagwa to replace the late Robert Mugabe.
He was accused of causing disunity within the party and supporting the G40 faction which eventually lost out in the party’s battle to succeed Mugabe.
“We had the case of Cde Chipanga Kudzanai from Manicaland. As you are aware he was expelled from the party in November 2017 for his activities and alignment with the G40 elements who did much damage to the party causing mayhem and disunity within the party,” said Chinamasa during the media brief.
“He applied to be readmited, first in 2018 then again in January this year. The politburo after taking into account the pivotal role that Kudzanai Chipanga played in driving the G40 agenda, carrying out it’s activities and the gravity of offenses that he committed, not just against the party but against the party and the party leadership. The politburo has seen it fit to turn down completely his application to rejoin the party,” added Chinamasa.
Chinamasa also revealed that Chipanga should immediately vacate the farm he owns, claiming that it had been set aside for Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences.
He said the farm had been given to Chipanga as a way of rewarding him for being aligned to G40 members.
“The politburo also noted ofcourse that during the G40 activities, he was put on a farm which had been set aside to establish the Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences. This was in terms of to reward him for his involvement in G40 activities. He must vacate that farm forthwith to pave way for the setting up of the University of Manicaland.
Meanwhile, former minister of Sports, Makhosi Hlongwane’ readmission plea was also rejected.
