HARARE -The statements made by Minister Muswere, during a Post-Cabinet briefing, are still in the proposal stage and have not been enacted as law, ZimFact has clarified.
According to the fact checking organisation, the Zimbabwean government has proposed an amendment to the Broadcasting Services Act, making radio licensing mandatory for motorists before acquiring vehicle insurance cover or policy, unless exempted by the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC).
According to Minister of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Jenfan Muswere, the proposed amendments aim to broaden definitions and prohibit the sale of motor vehicle registration licenses or insurance policies to individuals without a current radio license or ZBC exemption.
