HARARE – Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) reporter Janet Munyaka has died following days of battling with a Covid-19 related illness.
Munyaka had been admitted at St Anne’s Hospital.
She was 48.
“The ZBC wishes to announce the tragic passing of veteran journalist and Diplomatic Correspondent Janet Munyaka who succumbed to Covid-19 this Saturday evening. The ZBC Board, Management and staff extend our deepest condolences to Janet’s family at this very difficult moment,” said the national broadcaster in a statement.
Minister of Information, Monica Mutsvangwa described the late Munyaka as” a strong, hardworking, accomplished and able journalist.”
At the time of her death, Munyaka was the diplomatic correspondent for ZBC. A role she took over from the late Judith Makwanya.
During her 20 year career at the national broadcaster, she also served as the municipal, politics and health reporter.
