WHANGE: The Zimbabwe Environmental Lawyers Association (ZELA) has selected Whange Central constituency as one of its partners in its new Parliamentary advocacy programme that seeks to promote mining in an environmentally sustainability manner.
The programme also seeks to promote the involvement of local communities in mining and developmental issues.In particular, the initiative also seeks to create a pool of *Champion MPs* who will help to enhance the advocacy strategy for ZELA especially from a parliamentary perspective.

Several constituencies have been identified across Zimbabwe and so far only Whange Central constituency has been selected in Matabeleland North During the past two days, ZELA hosted both a consultation and training workshop at the Whange Safari lodge Participants were drawn from across all the selected constituencies in the country Whange Central constituency had the largest delegation that constituted of the Office of the MP, several ward Councillors and some representatives from both the civil society and residents trust.

“As the Office of the MP for Whange Central constituency we are so excited and so humbled to be part of this important national initiative as coordinated by ZELA,” Hon Daniel Molokele.
