LONDON – Zimbabwe born, Blessing Chitapa has won this year’s edition of The Voice UK.
She mesmerised the online audience who subsequently voted her as the winner of the prestigious and highly competitive music competition.
Chitapa saw off stiff competition, singing Robbie William’s Angels and James Bay’s Hold Back The River in the final to win this year’s competition.
Born in Zimbabwe, she moved to the UK at the age of seven in 2009.
She is passionate about music and growing up in a family of Gospel singers has had a big influence on her.
Celebrating her victory, Chitapa’s mentor, Olly Murs took to Twitter to talk about the talented young singer.
Murs said, “SHE DID IT!! Thanks to the virtual audience for voting her your winner! I knew we had a chance but wow YESSSSSSS Blessing…. your Voice is just crazy good for someone so young! The future is yours, record deal pending and new music coming out next year.”
