A FURTHER nine town councillors in St Neots will make complaints after the council was compared to Robert Mugabe’s Zimbabwe.
Stephen Van De Kerkhove, a district and county councillor, said proposed changes to the way the council was run were “like something Mugabe might do”.
Some town councillors are now calling for him to make a public apology and resign.
Cllr Roger Harrison spoke on behalf of the nine new complainants.
He said: “As a district and county councillor he really shouldn’t come down and tell us how to run our business.
“He should conduct himself much better. It is completely unacceptable.
“I spent 12 years of my life serving in the armed forces in Germany as a direct result of what the Nazis did.
“Justify your statement Mr Van De Kerkhove, and if you can’t, resign.”
He also said that Mr Van De Kerhove might have offended council staff.
He said that they work extremely hard and wouldn’t want to be asssociated with such monstorous regimes.
