HARARE – The Zimbabwe Revolutionary And Patriotic Youth Network (ZIRAPAYON) wrote a letter demanding the removal of the current city council and that an interim system be put in place until the next elections.
In a letter addressed to the Minister of Local Government, ZIRAPAYON says it is “perturbed by the Harare City Council.”
They cite the ongoing water crisis and lack of rubbish collection among other issues.
“Zimbabwe Revolutionary And Patriotic Youth Network (ZIRAPAYON) Harare Province in it’s entirety is deeply perturbed by the Harare City Council. As young people we have seen the deplorable state of our City by the lack of rubbish collection, no water availability, poor fire services and drainage systems that are not cleared in time before the rains. This city is close to a Health crisis and with the rainy season upon us we shall be in a disaster that will worse than the 2018 Cholera Outbreak,” read part of the statement.
ZIRAPAYON further says it has been forced to petition the responsibly Ministry because Harare Council has ignored it’s letter demanding urgent action.
