ZIMBABWE – A Glen Norah B man has been arrested for allegedly stealing his friend’s Mercedes Benz worth US$10000.
Mike nyamanjiva, 35, pleaded not guilty when he appeared before mbare magistrate Reward Kwenda charged with theft of trust property.
The State alleges that victor Chawapiwa owed Nyamanjiva US$500 which he had been struggling to pay back.
On January 11 last year, the two then made an agreement that Chawapiwa then offered to give Nyamanjiva his Mercedes Benz as assurance that he would pay his money back.
In February last year Chawapiwa managed to raise the US$500 he owed and when he tried to call Nyamanjiva ignored his calls.
Chawapiwa told the court that his efforts to locate Nyamanjiva were fruitless till he suspected that his car would never be given back to him.
Chawapiwa then went and lodged a complaint with the police and they accompanied him to Nyamanjiva leading to his arrest after he failed to give back to him.
Lawrence Gangarahwe appeared for the State.
