Zimbabwe Intercessors Movement leader Bishop Kevin Nyamakanga has declared the next two months a National Days of Kneeling and Prayer to intercede on behalf of Zimbabwe as the country is grappling with numerous socio-economic and political challenges.

In a press conference held at the Media Center, in Harare, the Bishop said the Zimbabwe Council of Churches, Catholic Bishops Council, Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Network of Churches and all other Church bodies have a duty to play through prayer and intercession to address the current situations to the Almighty.

“Our people are facing hardships ranging from unemployment, high inflation and inadequate access to essential services such as healthcare and education. This is leading to extreme poverty. In these turbulent times l firmly believe that the power of prayer and intercession is required urgently to address the situation,” he said.

The Bishop added that Churches should use their position to intercede to God as it is clear that a spiritual revival is essential to lead the nation towards a positive trajectory in all aspects of life.

“The church holds a unique position to foster dialogue, promote reconciliation and advocate for positive change. Your moral authority and commitment to social justice can serve as a catalyst for healing, division and inspiring constructive action.”

Nyamakanga said the political arena should also work together to bring the nation to a stable place for the greater good of the citizens.

“We are reminding our political leaders of their responsibility to govern with integrity, compassion and a genuine commitment to the wellbeing of all citizens, encouraging them to set aside personal agendas and partisan interest for the greater good of our country. United we stand divided we fall.”

The Bishop said as the country comes together to intercede, people should make declarations so the future will be bright for everyone.

“In closing let us make declarations for our country Zimbabwe, a nation of peace, prosperity, justice and freedom for all its citizens. Zimbabwe shall be a God fearing Nation. Zimbabwe’s economy shall recover and be strong again. Zimbabwe shall be a nation of plentiful jobs and opportunities for everyone. Our people shall return from the diaspora to live and work in their motherland. Zimbabwe will once again be the bread basket of Africa and the World beyond. Our nation will be blessed and not cursed.”

Zimbabwe Intercessors Movement is duly affiliated to Zimbabwe Network Of Churches as a National Prayer Movement. The movement is called to pray for peace and justice to the nation, thereby ushering in a New Great Zimbabwe where everyone is equal before the Lord and the Law. Their values are peace, truth, equity, justice and equality.
