HARARE – Seven students from Prince Edward School in Harare have tested positive for Covid-19, according to official communication from the school.
In a letter addressed to parents, the authorities says the students who tested positive for the virus are all doing their ‘A’ Level and they await further results for other boarders tested.
“Prince Edward School boarders were sent for Covid-19 testing at Parirenyatwa taking advantage of the free PCR testing being availed by the Higher Life Foundation. This was done as a precautionary measure. Unfortunately, the first batch of results has indicated that (7) seven upper 6 boarders tested positive for Covid-19. The rest of the results are still to come in but all 256 boarders were tested with the latest tests done on Wednesday 24 March 2021,” read the letter from the school authorities.
The school authorities added that the affected students have been quarantined while awaiting instructions from the Ministry of Education.
“…All the relevant authorities have been informed. It is now up to parents to continue bringing their boys to school while waiting for further instructions,” the letter further read.
Schools re-opened this week for non-examination classes after a long halt due to the pandemic.
