ZIMBABWE – A Harare woman took her ex-husband to the civil court yesterday claiming an amount of $350 for the upkeep of their two children.
Lucia Jaka told the court that she needed Farai Musumha to help her with money for their children since she is failing to take care of them alone.
Lucia cited that:
“Farai and I were once married but after the divorce he has done nothing for our children and I am finding it hard to sustain them alone.
“He is bus conductor and he earns approximately $450, from that amount I need him to give his children $35O because they are his responsibility.
“I earn a living through selling tomatoes and the money I get is not enough to take care of the two children,” she said.
Farai responded to this saying that:
“Lucia ran away from our matrimonial home for no reason, I want her back so that we can take care of our children together.
“She also stated that I am a bus conductor, actually I am a general hand worker and I earn $250 per month, I can only give her $40 since I have two other children to take care of,” he said.
Magistrate Barbra Mateko presided over the case and ordered Farai to pay Lucia $80 beginning December 30
