ZIMBABWE – A night Club bouncer was dragged to maintenance court by his ex-girlfriend, who was claiming US$360 for the up keep of one minor child.
Rudo Mahamba appeared at Harare civil court claiming US$360 from Christopher Suerga whom she said has neglected his 10-month-old daughter.
“Christopher is a bouncer at a popular night club and earns US$600 per month.
“I want US$360 for the upkeep of our 10-month-old daughter whom he neglected when l was pregnant.
“Right now l am not employed because I’m nursing the child, who needs extra care because she has a lung problem.
“He denies that he is a full time bouncer to evade paying maintenance but I can bring proof which shows that he is indeed employed full time,” she said.
In response Christopher, who offered US$30, said:
“I am not a full time night club bouncer and realise US$10 each time I’m hired.
“The child’s medical needs are taken care of by my mother.”
Magistrate Trevor Nyatsanza, who presided over the matter, deferred the matter to February 11.
