HARARE – Oliver ‘Tuku’ Mtukudzi’s family has approached the Master of High Court to start the distribution process of the late musician’s estate.
A legal notice of inspection of the estate which started yesterday was placed by family’s lawyers, Mhishi Nkomo Legal Practice.
“In the estate of the late Oliver Mtukudzi of Harare who died at Harare on January 23, 2019. Notice is hereby given that the first and final liquidation and or distribution account in the above estate will lie for inspection for a period of 21 days as from the 9th day of October 2020 at the office of Master of the High Court, Harare. Should no objections be lodged with the Master within the period of inspection, payments will be made in accordance therewith,” reads the notice.
Last year in May, the widow to the late music icon, Daisy and Vennah Muchakagara (family member) were appointed as executors to the estate after a meeting with the family members unanimously agreed to the appointment of the two.
Some of the family members who agreed to the two executors for transparency were Tuku’s daughters, sisters and other relatives.
Mtukudzi had left a will and appointed Chibune and Associates as executor but the parties had to settle for the two family members considering that the law firm was now defunct.
The will was read out and no objections had been raised immediately.
The Master’s Office accepted the will for administrative purposes.
Tuku as he was affectionately known died at the age of 66.
He had won several awards and had 67 recorded albums during his illustrious career.
