HARARE – Members of the public have been urged to continue complying with the Covid-19 regulations put in place to curb the spread of the virus.
This follows a rise in arrests related to breaching the set regulations with more than 2000 arrests made on 16 March 2021, according to Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).
“The ZRP reiterates that members of the public must comply with the current COVID-19 regulations. On 16/03/21, 2 658 people were arrested for COVID-19 related breaches of which 2 065 people were for failing to wear masks,” said police spokesperson Paul Nyathi.
ZRP says 517 665 arrests have been made since the lockdown was introduced in March last year.
Experts have warned against complacency suggesting that the country is not yet out of the woods with the potential for a deadly third wave still lingering.
