HARARE – Two men aged 23 and 59 have been arrested in connection with the murder of two minors in Mutasa district, police have confirmed.
The two suspects have been arrested after clothes and a small hoe with blood stains was discovered at their homes.
“On 16 April, Police in Mutasa arrested two men (23 and 59), in connection with two cases of murder which occurred at Sambaza Village, Mutasa, on 14 April 2021, where two minors were found dead in a disused toilet pit.
“Clothes and a small hoe with suspected bloodstains were recovered from the suspects’ homes. Investigations are in progress,” ZRP said.
According to the police, a report for the two children was made after their parents noticed that they were unusually late from school and the teachers had confirmed that they knocked off at 1pm.
The community joined the search and the two bodies were discovered at about halfway between the school and their home after following bloodstain trails which led them to an abandoned toilet.
Their bodies were still intact although they had deep cuts on their necks.
