HARARE – A Harare magistrate yesterday ordered the temporary release of independent Norton member of parliament Temba Mliswa’s passport to allow him to travel outside the country on a business-related trip.
Represented by Msindo Hungwe, Mliswa argued that he was part of the essential services allowed to do business during the tighter lockdown which was recently lifted.
The legislator was arrested for breaching Covid-19 regulations after he called for a press conference at the height of a messy break up with his ex-girlfriend Susan Mutami.
However, Mliswa’s attempt to have the matter heard in the Constitutional Court was unsuccessful.
His passport had been taken by the courts as part of his bail conditions on the matter.
