HARARE – Independent Norton member of parliament Temba Mliswa has dismissed claims by ex-girlfriend Susan Mutami that he has been performing rituals across the country so that he can become the president in 2023.
During a press conference held in Harare today, Mliswa said if God wanted him to be president then he was going to be one someday.
“Where you have allegations that I have been going around the country (ndichikanda bute) performing rituals wanting to be the president. May it be known that if the good Lord wants president Mnangagwa to be the president like he is, it’s him. If the good Lord wants Chamisa to be president, he will be president. If the good Lord wants Chiwenga to be president, he will be the president. If the good Lord wants Mwonzora to be president, he will be president. If the good Lord wants Temba Mliswa to be president, he will be president,” said Mliswa.
Adding that he was happy to be a member of parliament but if ever he challenges for the presidency it’s not a crime to do so.
Mliswa said he was being dragged into Zanu-PF factional wars and accused ministers Owen Ncube and July Moyo of trying to turn President Mnangagwa against his Vice President Constantino Chiwenga through unfounded accusations.
“They could not stand with the president when Mugabe was in power, they were quiet. Where did you ever see July Moyo uttering a word in the central committee supporting ED? Where did you see Owen ‘Mudha’ Ncube other than kuenda kufarm uko achiita makuhwa (going to the farm spreading false rumours), a well-known issue in the politburo of Zanu-PF where they now want to bring me in the factional politics of Zanu-PF.
“It is well documented that they had a politburo meeting where security was there trying to implicate Chiwenga in the factions of ZANU-PF, forgetting that Chiwenga is a key player in the president being in power. How can he suddenly turn against the president,” he said?
The outspoken legislator said July Moyo was harming Mnangagwa’s presidency, labelling him the ‘Chombo of Mugabe’ (reference to the corrupt former Local Government minister Ignatius Chombo).
“July is the Chombo of Mugabe and ultimately Mugabe was destroyed by Chombo. Mark my words, there is no politician who can sustain the lies of the Midlands, the way July and Mudha works, where there is no credibility. Mark my words, I told this to the late former president that Chombo is not good for you when was chairman for Mashonaland West. He looked at me and said ‘yes but don’t do anything about it’, he added.
He also said Mutami was a project within Zanu-PF factional wars, showing some exhibits which he said implicated state security minister Ncube in the plot against him.
Mliswa further dismissed claims that he wanted to assassinate the president’s son claiming this was all part of a ploy against him.
“So when you now have things that you want to assassinate the son of the president. Where does it come in? Now you see that third hand where it’s coming in now…
“And CIO is quiet about that. I shall show you evidence that people in the President’s Office being mentioned by Susan. And then when I said she was a project, you will believe me today.
“When I made the mention of Miss Mutami being a project, I did not mean it as a slur but I was making a statement of fact. I have in my possession evidence indicating that Miss Mutami had submitted all my messages and voice notes to the minister of state security (Owen Ncube). And when I was with her if you follow my chats with her, I never used to talk much. I wanted to know my enemies. I too have people who tell me,” he said.
The Norton legislator said he was a fan of Chiwenga’s militant way of doing things, dismissing claims that he wished the Vice President dead.
Mliswa also dismissed the claims that he has been using the Mnangagwa’s name to extort people.
