ZIMBABWE – A city man is at odds with his step-mother who claims that she is failing to live with him peacefully because of his constant insults.
This came to light at the Harare civil court where Grace Mhuta was seeking for a protection order against her step-son Eleven Mhuta.
She said in court:
“I am seeking for a protection order against my step son because we are failing to live together in peace because he does not respect me.
“He sold a plot that my late husband left for me to sustain on, the other time his children harvested on a piece of land that I had ploughed.
“He denies me access to the family garden for reasons best known to him, my prayer to the court is to be granted the protection order so that he can relate to me peacefully.”
In response, Eleven said:
“This woman is my father’s third wife and everything she told the court are all lies.
“She is the one who does not talk to me; every time I try talking to her she starts shouting at me calling me all sorts of insulting names.
“The plot she is talking about is a land that our late father left for us so that we are self sustainable. She got her own plot which she sold.”
Magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa, who presided over the matter, granted the protection order in Grace’s favour.
