A trunk sewer is a sewer line that receives wastewater flow from the collector sewer and conveys this wastewater either to an intercepting sewer or a treatment plant. This trunk sewer forms a significant part of a sewer network in large population or industrial centers, and must be adequately maintained to remain operational.
Chitungwiza Public Relations Office said, ‘The desilting exercise is expected to address the challenges of sewer blockages and bursts in Unit J, and M.
However, a permanent solution to the perennial sewer challenges in Chitungwiza can only be realised if the town gets its own source of portable water, they added.
