HARARE – The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority(ZIMRA) has cautioned the public not to fall prey to criminals who masquerade as it’s officers in a bid to swindle innocent people of their money.
Zimra’s spokesperson Francis Chimanda said two individuals had been going around claiming to be Loss Control Officers and extorting unsuspecting citizens.
“The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority(ZIMRA) wishes to advise it’s valued clients, members of staff and the public in general that there has been a misrepresentation by one Tinotenda Blessing Machingauta, pictured above of ID number NR 63-2159668Y15, cell number 0778008871 and his accomplice Welsh Zisengwe, cell phone number 0774824458.
“The two are masquerading as ZIMRA Loss Control Officers and are going around extorting money from unsuspecting companies and individual businesses on the pretext of conducting ZIMRA business such as motor vehicle change of ownership or motor vehicle registration, among other alleged offences,” said Chimanda.

The tax collector advised its clients and the general public that it’s employees do not carry out business in the streets using unofficial personal platforms such as Whatsapp and that they do not ask for any monetary deposits into personal accounts to perform the Authority’s business.
